In August of 2019 my husband and I finally took a long-anticipated trip to Sweden. We spent a few days in Stockholm, a couple of days in Göteborg, and a couple more days driving the back roads of southern Sweden exploring ancestral homelands and places of their birth.
All of my mom's ancestral lines came to the USA from Sweden. My dad is 1/4 Swedish as one of his grandfathers was born to Swedish immigrants. That makes me more than 50% Swedish, a heritage I fully embrace and cherish.
This blog contains not only stories, images, and accounts of our recent trip, it also contains genealogical research I've done on all of my Swedish ancestry on both sides of my family. I never thought I'd find much given that most of them were poor peasant farmers, but it's amazing what can be found when someone takes the time and initiative to search online, send out a few emails, and ask a lot of questions.
This will be a work in progress for a good while, so please check back periodically to see what's new. And I'd love to know who's been visiting my blog! Please don't hesitate to add your comments and insights!
